FAQ
I’m not super fit and don’t have much experience riding in cities. Is this adventure right for me?
Absolutely! Our tours are designed to be fun and accessible for riders of all experience levels. While we’ll take you on an adventurous urban safari, we stick to dedicated bike paths, aside from a few calm stretches, and steer clear of busy city streets.
Plus, our e-bikes come with a throttle feature, so you can cruise like you're on an electric scooter whenever you need a break from pedaling.
Come ride with us and see why Cycling Weekly named Minneapolis the #1 large city for bike friendliness in the U.S.
What’s included?
E-bike rental
Minneapolis’ most scenic and iconic sights
Friendly, knowledgeable guide
Light yoga-inspired stretching and breathwork
Helmet (or bring your own)
Bike basket
Seasonal fruit snack
How do I get the two-rider discount?
After booking an e-bike tour with rental, you will receive a coupon code that you can provide to your companion rider, allowing them to redeem it for a 50% discount on an e-bike tour with rental.
Please note that all riders must book a tour separately so that each person can review and agree to a liability waiver.
Can I bring my own e-bike or a shared e-bike, such as a Lime bike, on a tour?
Yes!. You even get a deep discount if you bring your own e-bike.
Can I bring my own traditional (non-electric) bike on a tour?
Maybe! While our tours are reserved for e-bike riders, folks riding traditional bikes often pass us when we’re cruising on our e-bikes. If you're one of those strong-legged humans and you’re interested in joining a tour, email joshua@aquacitytours.com to request a special signup code.
Do you do private tours?
Yes! Text or email Joshua at 612.876.7617 or joshua@aquacitytours.com, and we’ll work with you to get you or your group on an e-bike tour.
What should I bring?
Closed-toed shoes (required)
Comfortable clothing that you can move in
Water bottle
Sunscreen
Jacket/raincoat (if chilly)
Good cheer 😊
What should I wear?
Keep an eye on the weather forecast to ensure you dress warmly enough! We recommend layers, a jacket or raincoat depending on the weather, and require closed-toe footwear that may get a little dirty.
Wear comfortable clothing that you can move in, avoiding excessively baggy, loose-fitting, or flowing items that could get caught in a bike.
Are helmets provided?
Yes, we provide complimentary bike helmets of various sizes and colors, which are required. However, riders are welcome to bring their own helmets.
What is the cancellation/inclement weather policy?
We offer full refunds for inclement weather cancellations and for other cancellations made within 24 hours of your scheduled tour. We hope you’ll book again in the future!
I can’t afford your tours, but I want to go. What should I do?
We’ve got you! Join us for Wacky Wednesdays, where we offer our guided River & Waterfalls e-bike tour on a donation basis on the first Wednesday of each month.
Riders who pay regular prices allow us to offer this unique experience for those biking on a budget—thank you!
Are you insured?
Yes. We carry a general liability insurance policy.
What are the rider age restrictions?
18+
or 15+ with a parent and a parent/guardian waiver release.

Do we do yoga on the tour?
Our tours include about 15 minutes of simple, yoga-inspired stretching and breathwork at the beginning, middle, and end of your tour. If you prefer to sit out or watch, that’s ok.
Where do tours depart?
Our River & Waterfalls cruises typically depart from Boom Island Park, near the dock and the lighthouse, and our Chain of Lakes & Sculpture Garden cruises typically start at Lake Harriet Park, at the Bandshell. You’ll receive detailed instructions via email after booking your tour.

Do I need a Driver’s License?
No.
Do you sell food or drinks?
We typically bring some water bottles and granola bars for sale, along with teas from our artisanal tea stand and sister business, StarSeed Herbals.
Do you have a physical location?
No. Unless you count the campervan we use to transport our fleet of e-bikes.
Are you affiliated with the old Aqua City Motel in South Minneapolis?
It depends on what you mean by “affiliated.”
